I think I know why Parker insisted that David needed a Portland Trailblazers basketball for his birthday. Can you guess who has gotten the most use out of the ball? Oh, and check out David's Birthday Wish List below...

Lost Lake, Round 2
We couldn't help but return for a second round of Lost Lake fun! The weather wasn't nearly as nice, but we got to have Grandma Connie, Grandpa Bob, and Great Grandma Lois join us!

Escape to Lost Lake
It's been a while since we visited Grandma's cabin and we had an amazing time! Since she moved out, the cabin hasn't exactly been kept in tip top shape, but we camped in tents in the yard, jumped in the lake, swam and rowed to the island to explore, fished, and made s'mores around the campfire. The change of scenery was exactly what we needed.

8th Annual Family Beach Trip: Seaside
We decided to switch up our family beach trip location this year and landed on Seaside, Oregon. We were looking for a few differences with this year's location: no cars whizzing by on the beach (like there was in Long Beach, WA), a town that offered something in the way of restaurants and entertainment, and running/biking safely accessible from the house. We got all three from the house we chose in Seaside and while Covid made the restaurant/entertainment piece fairly unnecessary, we had a really great time. The weather was AMAZING and a few of us even walked away with sunburns, an unfortunate occurrence that one should obviously be prepared for at the beach, but that we generally find unlikely on the Washington/Oregon Coast. We usually call it a great weather year if we at least have some dry days. Sun and warmth were icing on the cake!
Grandma Connie and Great Grandma Lois weren't able to join us this year as Connie was recovering from knee replacement surgery. We had two other family members join us for the first time this year, though! We were lucky that Elly's son Elias was able to come, even in light of all that is Covid these days. And Amelia, the newest member of family Johnson, got to experience her first "cousinland" at the beach in all it's glory. Jury is still out on how they truly felt about this crazy family trip.
We enjoyed many of the staple beach trip activities including lots of ice cream cones, playing in the sand, cookie baking with Aunt Elly, evening Bocce Ball matches, and lots of tank top wearing. The weather was nice enough to encourage many brave souls to jump in the ocean waves this year and we made an afternoon trip to the tide pools at Cannon Beach's Haystack Rock. And here are a few pics...
